15 March 2020 COVID-19 Update

To Our Guppys Early Learning Centre Parents

As a valued family of Guppy’s Early Learning Centres, we’d like to update you on the evolving coronavirus (COVID19) situation, and the precautions we’re taking to ensure our Early Learning Centres and the services we provide are delivered to a hygienic, safe and clean standard to help minimise COVID-19 affecting our families or staff.

The health and safety of our parents children and staff is always our top priority and whilst the overall risk in Australia of contracting COVID-19 in the community remains extremely low, we’re taking a number of extra steps to protect our families and staff and prevent as best as possible anyone associated with our service being impacted by COVID-19.

As a Licenced Long Day Child Care service, we already have extremely high levels of Health and Hygiene policies and procedures we adhere to (along with many other child care policies and procedures) which are audited and monitored by management and also by various Government Agencies. We have sought to introduce additional procedures to give you extra comfort around what we are doing to deliver on our commitment to our families health and safety. These include:

1. Centre Cleaning Procedures

i. In reception and throughout the centre:

  1. We will be conducting extra screening of parents, children, staff and any visitors so as to educate and prevent any potential transmission of COVID-19 into the service
  2. Conducting extra daily cleaning of high-use surfaces, such as door knobs, ipads, eftpos machines and any other relevant and affected surfaces
  3. Hand sanitisers will be provided in all rooms, including reception for use

ii. In Rooms and playground (daily and weekly):

  1. Staff have increased their frequency of cleaning of all toys and hard surfaces within the rooms
  2. Staff have increased their frequency of cleaning of all playground equipment and any plastics used in the playground

iii. Overall:

  1. Practice good health and hygiene habits with children every day to embed practices
  2. Promote (with signage) good health and hygiene habits throughout the centre and to parents

iv. End of week / Ad-Hoc/ Sanitisation Cleaning by External contractors:

  1. External cleaners will be increasing their frequency and intensity of centre cleaning
  2. We have cleaners ready to conduct extra high-level / deep sanitisation cleans where required

2. What you can do to help

Whilst we are taking extra measures to ensure our child care facility remains a clean and hygienic one for our families and staff, we ask that you follow the advice we have been provided by QLD Health which are best for prevention:

i. Look out for symptoms:

  1. fever
  2. a cough
  3. sore throat
  4. fatigue
  5. shortness of breathe

ii. Engage in good health and hygiene:

  1. cleaning hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rubs
  2. covering your nose and mouth with a tissue or flexed elbow when coughing or sneezing
  3. avoiding contact with anyone who has symptoms such as fever, a cough, sore throat, fatigue, and shortness of breath
  4. staying home if you are unwell

b. If in doubt, engage in self-quarantine or see a medical professional for clearance

We would like to thank you for your understanding and assistance here and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to raise them with your Centre Director / Nominated Supervisor.

Warm Regards

Andrew and Suzanne Parker
